Building a Strong Partnership between the States and the Voluntary and Community Sector in Jersey

The States of Jersey have been working with a cross section of Voluntary and Community Sector organisations, large and small to look at ways we could improve our relationship.

We all acknowledge that relationships across the sector and between different States departments have not always been strong or produced the best outcomes for islanders. We all want to change that position and build a strong collaborative partnership so together we can better support the future sustainability of Island life and Jersey’s social and economic wellbeing.

A small planning group, drawn from across the sector and States of Jersey departments are organising a workshop to be held later in the summer to explore with the Voluntary and Community Sector how we can work together more effectively.

To prepare for that workshop, the planning group have begun to look at what would be the key principles, values and behaviours that should underpin a new relationship between the States and the Voluntary and Community Sector.

In this short survey we would like to gain your opinions on our thinking so far and gain your suggestions to help shape the workshop.

Please take a few minutes to consider the draft statements below and rate them on the given scale of 1 to 10 (1 being not important at all, to 10 being extremely important).

The survey is anonymous.

Many thanks for your input.

1. Respect - with statutory and VCS organisations both being accountable in different ways is key. Relationships need to be underpinned by integrity and transparency, built on a mutual understanding of the differences between partners.
